UK November 2025: Renault at best in 3 years, Ford Puma up 58.1%
Renault is inside the UK Top 10 for the first time since December 2022.
The UK new car market is off -1.6% year-on-year in November to 151,154 units which is still a solid result. The year-to-date volume is up 3.4% to 1,874,271 and should pass the 2 million mark by year end. An indicator of an unhealthy market, private sales single-handedly pull the market down at -5.5% to 55,253 and 36.6% share vs. 38.1% a year ago. Meanwhile Fleet sales are stable at +0.2% to 92,219 and 61% share vs. 59.9% and business sales are up 18% to 3,682 and 2.4% share vs. 2%. Year-to-date, private sales grow 3.7% to 728,175 and 38.9% share vs. 38.7% over the same period a year ago, fleet sales are up 3.1% to 1,103,938 and 58.9% share vs. 59.1% and business sales are up 8.2% to 42,158 and 2.2% share, unchanged.
In terms of propulsion type, BEVs edge up only +3.6% to 39,965 and 26.4% share vs. 25.1% in November 2024, this is the lowest great rate in almost two years. PHEVs advance +14.8% to 18,005 and 11.9% share vs. 10.2%, HEVs are up 1.3% to 19,836 and 13.1% share vs. 12.8%, petrol drops -5.9% to 66,180 and 43.8% share vs. 45.8% and diesel sinks -24% to 7,168 and 4.7% share vs. 6.1%. Through November, BEVs are up 26% to 426,209 and 22.7% share vs. 18.7% over the same period in 2024, PHEVs grow 34.8% to 208,245 and 11.1% share vs. 8.5%, HEVs are up 7.5% to 261,755 and 14% share vs. 13.4%, petrol is down -8.3% to 880,331 and 47% share vs. 53% and diesel falls -15.8% to 97,731 and 5.2% share vs. 6.4%.

In the brands ranking, Volkswagen (+4.9%) is the faraway leader at 8.6%, with Audi (+12.3%) repeating at an outstanding 2nd place. BMW (-15.7%) is in difficulty YoY but is up one spot on October to #3. Ford (+13.9%) and Kia (+8.2%) also shine to round out the Top 5 as Ford overtakes the Korean manufacturer to hold the third place year-to-date. The next four manufacturers are down, with Nissan (-12%) hit the hardest above Toyota (-10.3%), Hyundai (-9.9%) and Skoda (-1.8%). Renault (+16.9%) soars to #10, the French carmaker’s first incursion inside the UK Top 10 since December 2022. BYD (+232.9%) and Cupra (+66.1%) excel below while Jaecoo breaks its share record at 2.2%.
Model-wise, the Ford Puma surges 58.1% year-on-year to reach 3.2% share, its highest since April 2024. The Kia Sportage (+9.3%) is far below at 2.4% of the market. The Nissan Qashqai (-20.4%) struggles but ensures the podium is identical to YTD. The Nissan Juke (+46.6%) advances to #4 while the VW T-Roc is up to #5, its highest ranking since February 2024 when it was #3. The VW Golf (+78.4%) follows and posts an unusually strong year-on-year lift. Below the Vauxhall Corsa, the new Jaecoo 7 a 4th consecutive Top 10 finish but is down two ranks on last month to #8.
