Media post: Porsche Embraces New AirConsole App with Porsche Macan

Porsche has adopted the AirConsole app, with the Porsche Macan to be the first car to offer it as a feature. AirConsole is going to allow those who drive a Macan, as well as their passengers, to play a range of multiplayer games. Although these games are going to be short, they are going to be part of a curated library. The app is going to be functional on the Macan’s central infotainment screen, with passengers using their smartphone as a controller.
AirConsole has A Growing List of Games
Players will have instant access to 40 games, with the catalogue growing all the time. Some of them include the classic gameshow Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The games can only be played while the car is parked, but the central touchscreen can be used for gaming on the go, with up to five players connected at all times.
Games can be played while the car is being driven; however, this is only for non-driving occupants. Even though the AirConsole app only supports shorter games for now, the reason why this works so well is that games themselves are getting shorter with time. Recent data shows that people are gravitating towards shorter games that can be played on the go, rather than longer titles that require extensive hardware.
Puzzle games, for example, are experiencing a significant rise in popularity, with titles like Wordle leading the charge, due to the simple format and shorter playing experiences. In other gaming examples, instant win iGaming titles are also on the rise, especially scratchcards and Slingo formats. The casino sector is set to grow to USD 542.41 billion by 2033, with a lot of this growth being because these types of games don’t just offer fast playing experiences, but also mobile accessibility, which reflects the broader trends we are seeing right now.
With Porsche taking steps to adopt the AirConsole app, it’s not surprising to see a bigger focus on shorter, more accessible games, and as time goes on, we can only expect more car manufacturers to jump on this trend as well.

Other Major Car Brands have Already Adopted AirConsole
Some of the other brands that we have seen adopt the AirConsole technology include BMW, Mini, Volkswagennd Audi. The collaboration between AirConsole and Porsche is also a big sign that AirConsole is scaling right now and is rapidly being adopted by worldwide automotive giants. It’s only been two years since AirConsole launched, but the addition of Porsche to their client base not only shows how gaming is evolving, but also how the automotive space is as well.
As people are now gravitating to more experiences on the go, and as people have less time to spend at home gaming, the launch of AirConsole in the Porsche Macan makes perfect sense. Porsche has also made the choice to implement the technology in their more luxurious model, as a way to not only drive demand but to also showcase how luxury is often paired with accessibility, which strengthens the brand’s message overall.
