Slovakia February 2025: Skoda places 6 models in Top 8 in freefalling market
Skoda Superb sales are up 42.9% in a market down -19.4%
It’s another very disappointing month for new car sales in Slovakia, freefalling -19.4% year-on-year in February to just 6,205 units. As a result the year-to-date tally is off -18.1% to 12,810. In the lead of the brands charts, both Skoda (-22.3%) and Toyota (-25.7%) fall even faster than the market at 20.8% and 9.6% share respectively. Volkswagen (-11%) resists much better yet is still in double-digit drop and overtakes Kia (-24.5%) for third place. Hyundai (-48.1%) is hit the hardest in the Top 10 followed by Dacia (-27.5%) and Peugeot (-26.4%). Completely ignoring the surrounding gloom, Citroen (+74%) and Ford (+56.8%) generate fantastic upticks.
As for models, after being toppled last month by the Kia Ceed (+1.6%) the Skoda Octavia (-20.4%) reclaims the lead despite a daunting year-on-year loss. The Skoda Karoq (+0.5%) is up one spot on last month to #3 while the Skoda Scala (-4.7%) is up five to #4. In fact Skoda places 6 models in the Top 8 with the Fabia (-67.8%), Kodiaq (+17.2%) and Superb (+42.9%) in tow. The Citroen C3 (+111.1%) surges ahead to #11 thanks to the new generation, with the VW Tiguan (+22.4%), Toyota Proace (+111.6%) and Opel Corsa (+102.6%) also making themselves noticed below.
