Argentina March 2025: Toyota Hilux best-seller in strongest market in 7 years (+82.5%)
The Toyota Hilux manages its first win of 2025.
The Argentinean new light vehicle market continues to rally back up at +82.5% year-on-year in March to 44,736 units. This is the highest March volume in 7 years: since the 83,954 units of March 2018. As a reminder March 2024 was down -36.4% on the year prior. Volkswagen (+123.8%) posts a third consecutive monthly win with 17.8% of the market, but last year’s leader Toyota (+28.8%) lurks just 32 sales below albeit underperforming markedly year-on-year. Fiat (+81.2%) roughly matches the market at #3, distancing Renault (+109.1%) and Ford (+94.3%) both in solid shape. Peugeot (+45.4%) trails the market’s growth rate and falls two spots on February to #6. BAIC (+456.4%), Hyundai (+436.2%), Honda (+179.4%) and Citroen (+152.6%) stand out below.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+85.1%) scores its first win of the year and its 7th in the past 12 months. That’s not enough to snap the top spot YTD when it ranks #3. Leader last month, the Fiat Cronos is bumped down to #2. The Toyota Yaris (+34.1%) is up two spots on February to #3, while the Peugeot 208 (+14.1%) is down two to #4 but holds onto the YTD lead. The Ford Ranger (+4700%) returns a surreal year-on-year uptick to rank #5. Fantastic results also by the Ford Territory (+389.8%), Chevrolet Tracker (+194.4%), VW Taos (+142.2%) and Polo (+113.4%).
