457,830 new cars found a buyer in Taiwan in 2024, a moderate -4% year-on-year loss on a particularly high year-ago volume (the largest in 18 years). Imported cars amount to 220,503 units or 48.2% of the market vs. 47% in 2023. Toyota (-3.2%) remains the faraway leader with 27.3% share, a slight improvement on last year. Lexus (-5.1%) overtakes Honda (-11.9%) for 2nd place while Mercedes (+7.6%) and Hyundai (+2.3%) round out the Top 5 with solid scores. BMW (+14.7%) leaps up four spots to #6 just as CMC (+1%) advances one to #7. MG (+13.3%), Tesla (+16.1%) and Mazda (+7.1%) also shine. Note MG was up to a record third place in February.

The Toyota Corolla Cross (-9.7%) celebrates four consecutive years at #1 but sees its market share slide from 7.8% to 7.4%. This is still way above the #2, the Toyota Town Ace (+20.6%) which delivered its first monthly win in August, repeating in September. The Toyota RAV4 (+10.2%) stays at #3 ahead of the Toyota Yaris Cross (+270.6%) ending its first full year of sales at an outstanding 4th place. The Honda CR-V (-21.9%) is the best of the rest but freefalls from #2 to #5. No additional Top 10 model is in positive. The Luxgen n7 lands directly at #15 and was the best-selling BEV in the country in April, May, July and October. Launched in November to replace the Veryca, the CMC J Space was already #6 in December and ends the year at #50.
