The Mexican new light vehicle market advances by a robust 9.8% year-on-year in 2024 to 1,496,856 units. This is the highest annual volume in 7 years: since 2017 (1.530.624). Perennial brand leader Nissan (+5.8%) can’t keep up with the market’s growth and as a result sees its share thaw slightly from 17.7% to a still ultra dominant 17%. Chevrolet (+11.1%) improves to 12.8% at #2. In fact the next four carmakers all beat the market with double digit gains but camp on their 2023 ranking. Volkswagen (+21.2%) leads the way above Toyota (+17.1%), Kia (+11.7%) and Mazda (+31.3%). MG (+0.1%) is stable at #7 which is a disappointing result in context. Hyundai (+7.1%) and Ford (+9.2%) while Suzuki (+16.8%) brilliantly rounds out the Top 10. Other great performers include GWM (+2090.2%), Peugeot (+42.5%), Mitsubishi (+28.8%) and Seat (+25.9%).

Over in the models charts, the Nissan Versa (+21.3%) easily repeats at #1 and celebrates 8 wins in the past 9 years. The Nissan NP300 (-4.6%) and Chevrolet Aveo (+11.9%) complete a podium unchanged on 2023. The Kia K3 (+566.8%), launched at the end of 2023 to replace the Rio, completes its first full year of sales at #4, the same ranking the Rio held over the Full Year 2023. The VW Virtus (+64.5%) surges 9 spots to #5. Four of the next five models fall year-on-year, with the Mazda CX-30 (+136.8%) the exception and soaring 32 ranks to #9.
