Ireland Full Year 2024: Hyundai Tucson sports 7th win in past 9 years, Skoda Octavia up to #2

The Hyundai Tucson is the best-selling vehicle in Ireland for the 4th straight year.

After starting the year with a bang at +14.9% in January and +25.2% in February, the Irish new car market ends 2024 in negative, down -1% year-on-year in 2024 to 121,195 units. Toyota (+6%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country and improves its market share by one percentage point to 14.5%. Volkswagen (-2.7%) edges down but stays at #2 ahead of Skoda (+19.7%) delivering the best performance near the top and seeing its share shoot up from 8.3% in 2023 to 10.1% this year. As a result Hyundai (-3.3%) is relegated to 4th place. Nissan (+9.4%), Audi (+3.6%) and Kia (+0.1%) also manage positive results in the remainder of the Top 10.

The Hyundai Tucson (+0.5%) scores a 4th consecutive year at #1 and 7th in the past 9 years with a stable 4.3% share. In 2nd place the Skoda Octavia (+109%) more than doubles its year-ago volume and shoots up seven spots on last year. The Kia Sportage (+5.9%) is relegated to third place as a result, while the Toyota RAV4 (+72.3%) is up eight ranks to #4. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+12.3%) posts a solid result at #5, with the VW Tiguan (+45.7%), Skoda Kodiaq (+34.6%) and Hyundai Kona (+13.8%) also impressive.
