Indonesia Full Year 2024: Toyota Kijang Innova repeats at #1 in market off -13.9%

It’s a tough year for Indonesian new vehicle sales, with wholesales down -13.9% to 865,723, the lowest tally since the pandemic-plagued 2020, and retail sales off -10.9% to 889,680, weakest since 2021. In the brands wholesales ranking, the Top 10 all lose ground. Toyota (-14.2%) matches the market at 33.4% share while Daihatsu (-13.3%) does slightly better and improves to 18.8%. Honda (-31.8%) is in complete freefall at 10.9% vs. 13.8% last year, while Mitsubishi (-6.7%) resists and overtakes Suzuki (-17.6%). Wuling (-6.9%) and Mitsubishi Fuso (-12.1%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. BYD lands directly at #11 but peaked at #6 in August, October and November. Chery (+124.2%) ends its first full year of sales at #12 while MG (+235.9%) surges to #15. Retail-wise, Toyota (-9.7%) dominates ahead of Daihatsu (-13.3%) and Honda (-19.5%), with BYD landing at #11 also.
Over in the models wholesales charts, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-4.2%) repeats at #1 with a dominant 7.4% share vs. 6.6% a year ago. The Toyota Avanza (-10.3%), Daihatsu Sigra (-12.3%) and Honda Brio (-16.6%) camp on their 2023 positions to make the Top 4 unchanged. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+13.4%) braves the negative market and advances to #5, toppling the Toyota Calya (-12.9%). The Toyota Agya (-11.8%) cracks the Top 10 at #10. Excellent performance also by the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (+1.4%) up 8 ranks on last year to #16. The BYD M6 is the best-selling 2024 launch at #31 and peaked at #9 in October.
