Greece Full Year 2024: Toyota Yaris Cross triumphs in highest market in 14 years

The Greek new car market edges up 1.9% year-on-year in 2024 to 137,075 units, the largest annual volume since 2010 (141.404). However we remain very far from the all time high of 279,554 sales registered in pre-GFC 2007. Toyota (+43.4%) surges ahead to tighten its grip on the market further at 17.2% share vs. 12.2% a year ago. Suzuki (+39.8%) is also euphoric at #2 and 7.8% share vs. #7 last year. Peugeot (+1.8%) matches the market and stays at #3 ahead of Hyundai (-9.8%) and Citroen (-17.8%) both underperforming. Opel (-38.5%) sinks from #2 to #7 with BMW (+8.9%) the only additional Top 10 member in positive. BYD leaps to #24 for its first full year in market and peaked at #10 and 4.2% share in November, placing the Dolphin at an incredible 4th place.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Yaris Cross (+74.8%) soars to pole position, making Greece the only known country in the world to crown this nameplate. The Toyota Yaris (+27.1%) is also in great shape and repeats at #2 ahead of the Peugeot 2008 (+74%) up six spots on last year to #3. The Citroen C3 (+0.9%) drops one rank to #4 just as the Suzuki Vitara (+29.4%) is up one to #5 and the Fiat Panda (+13.7%) up two to #6. Leader last year as it put an end to 10 straight years of Toyota Yaris domination, the Opel Corsa crumbles down -41.3% to #7.
