Denmark Full Year 2024: Volkswagen back to #1 brand, Tesla Model Y and VW ID.4 on top

The Danish new car market edges up 0.2% year-on-year in 2024 to 173,047. Volkswagen (+19.1%) surges from 9.7% to 11.6% share and reclaims the brands top spot off Tesla (-28.2%) in complete freefall. Toyota (+10.5%) and Mercedes (+20.8%) are both up one spot, taking advantage of a weak Audi (-5.5%). Renault (+75.1%) scores the largest year-on-year lift in the Top 10 and climbs up 7 spots to #9. Nissan (+32.8%), BMW (+27.5%), Volvo (+20.3%) and Skoda (+15.5%) also shine below. Xpeng (+336.1%) and BYD (+498.3%) both break into the Top 20.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (-41.7%) easily repeats at #1 despite a drastic fall and holds 6.1% of the market vs. 10.4% a year ago. The VW ID.4 (+122.8%) surges 10 spots to #2, distancing the Skoda Enyaq (+84.1%), Tesla Model 3 (+31.3%) and Audi Q4 e-Tron (+125.8%). #1 in 2022, the Peugeot 208 (-49.7%) crumbles to #6 this year. Excellent results for the BMW 3 Series (+159.3%), VW ID.3 (+155.3%) and VW T-Roc (+29.2%). The Volvo EX30 (+67650%) ends its first full year of sales at #11. The Ford Explorer (#25), Renault Scenic E-Tech (#27) and Xpeng G6 (#43) are the best-selling new launches with the latter hitting #4 in November.
