Media post: A look back at some truly terrible car games

A staple of the video games industry, car games have always been popular. Whether you want to embark on an explorative mission in your favorite vehicle of all-time or you’re desperate to race your way to glory, there are so many leading titles that are worth experiencing these days. It hasn’t always been that way, though.
In fact, over the years, passionate car lovers have been let down by some frankly terrible car games. Given the popularity of the genre and the outspoken nature of gaming communities, the developers behind these releases were certainly aware of their undoubted failures. Sure, people could still explore leading games from other genres, such as iconic releases like Red Dead Redemption and variations of online roulette games like DraftKings Basketball Roulette, but the titles below still annoyed consumers. It’s easy to see why, too.
Yaris was created for the release of the Tokyo Yaris
Unbelievably, Toyota thought it was a good idea to create a video game alongside the release of their new vehicle at the time, the Tokyo Yaris. Called Yaris, the game came out in 2007 and provided nothing but a tiresome gaming package. Available to play on Xbox Arcade, the title received negative reviews and lots of angry feedback from gamers. In the end, Xbox was forced to delete the game from its server. That’s how bad it was.

Pimp My Ride was based on the popular TV show
A blatant cash grab following the success of the MTV show with the same name, Pimp My Ride tasked players with enhancing their vehicles and then selling them on to lucky customers who required a souped-up car. Once you’d sold a few cars on for a good profit, though, there wasn’t much else to the game. In fact, it was just awful.
Bigfoot: Collision Course was horrific
A title from 2008, Bigfoot: Collision Course was an undoubted failure. With huge vehicles containing large wheels and big tracks that promised some epic collisions, fans were excited for this one. While there are worse titles in the genre out there, Bigfoot: Collision Course failed to entertain gamers, and they generally turned it off after short sessions. Players could upgrade their vehicles and master new tracks, but there wasn’t a great deal else on offer apart from that.
Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing should never be played again
If you ever have the opportunity to play Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing, then we strongly advise you turn it down. With police chasing you as you transport illegal packages across a city, it certainly sounds fun, but in reality, it was a painful experience. The game’s graphics were poor, the controls were tough to grasp, and it even contained several glitches that led to the game just crashing for no reason. Overall, Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing was truly terrible.
Fast & Furious: Showdown came out in 2013

Many movie lovers feel the Fast & Furious series of movies have been overdone a bit. This was perhaps in evidence when the makers of the movies decided to venture into the gaming sphere with the development of Fast & Furious: Showdown alongside the release of the latest movie at the time, Fast & Furious 6. Although the game contained decent gameplay as players aimed to stop a rival gang carrying out their plans, it didn’t deliver in other areas. It had poor graphics, badly designed tracks, and there were glitches with every turn that really hindered the overall gaming experience on offer. For people who adored car games, it was a bit of a letdown.
