China imports October 2024: Ferrari, Range Rover ignore market off -19.1%
Ferrari sales are up 325% year-on-year in October.
Contrasting with record-breaking exports, imports of new cars into China continue to freefall at -19.1% year-on-year in October to 48,625. Year-to-date volumes are down -11.8% to 524,504. Lexus (-8.3%) and Mercedes (-3.3%) resist better than the market and top the brands charts as usual. BMW (-33.9%) and Porsche (-35.9%) are both hit very hard below, with Land Rover (-12.4%) faring a bit better at #5. Subaru (-4.1%) is the only additional Top 10 member to outpace the market. Mitsubishi (+750%), Ferrari (+325%), Suzuki (+91.5%) and Genesis (+91.1%) all defy the negative market with splendid gains.
Model-wise, the Lexus LS (-19.1%) dominates the charts head and shoulders with over 9,100 sales, 2.3 times the amount sold by the #2, the Mercedes GLE (+7.7%). The Range Rover (+75%), Lexus NX (+32.9%) and Lexus RX (+19.7%) all also swim upstream in the remainder of the Top 5. The next 14 models all endure double-digit losses, with the Porsche Cayenne (-45.6%), Mercedes S-Class (-42.5%), Porsche Macan (-37.7%) and Audi A5 (-36%) struggling the most.
