Russia September 2024: Haval, Geely, Changan break records, Lada fades

Geely posts an all-time high Russian volume in September.

The Russian new car market is up 36.7% year-on-year in September to 150,879 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 60.9% to 1,154,778. Local behemoth Lada is stable year-on-year, which means it actually loses a massive amount of market share, going from 31.7% in September 2023 to just 23.2% now, its lowest level since March 2022. Haval (+78%) breaks its monthly volume record again at 19,725 units as do Geely (+75% to 16,055), Changan (+88.8% to 11,534), Jetour (+144.5% to 3,917) and newcomer Jaecoo to 3,027. Chery (+33.9%) fails to keep up with the market but stays in third place. Omoda (-13.7%) and Exeed (-20.2%) disappoint.

Model-wise, the Lada Granta (-17.8%) is actually down year-on-year to just 10.6% share for the month vs. 12.9% so far this year. The Lada Vesta (+64.8%) is also weak at 7% of the market vs. 8.1% year-to-date. Reversely it’s a record month for the Haval Jolion (+68.8%) hitting its highest ever monthly volume. The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (+65.1%) and Tiggo 4 Pro (+48%) complete an unchanged Top 5 vs. last month. The Geely Monjaro (+72.4%) is at its highest since last March and distances the Changan CS55 Plus (+339%).
