Czechia September 2024: Skoda at highest share since January, places 7 models in Top 7
The Skoda Karoq is now #2 year-to-date.
18,242 new cars found a buyer in Czechia in September, a solid 6% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is now up 2.6% to 171,999. Local behemoth Skoda posts a very satisfying score at +12% year-on-year to 38.9% share vs. 33.9% so far this year. This is the brand’s highest share since January when it hit 42.3% of its home market. Hyundai (+1.4%) is more shy at #2 with 8.2% share, but Toyota (-27%) and Volkswagen (-31.3%) both freefall below. Kia (+21.1%) impress at #5 while Tesla (+558.8%) scores by fast the best performance of the market and jumps 14 spots on last month to #6 and 3.5% share vs. #14 and 1.6% year-to-date. It equals its highest ranking also reached last June. Ford (+37.3%), BMW (+13.1%) and Dacia (+10.9%) also stand out in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+0.4%) reclaims the top spot ahead of the Skoda Karoq (+45.3%) again lodging a very sturdy result at #2. This is also the spot it now holds year-to-date. The Kamiq (+28.5%) and Kodiaq (+9.4%) also beat the market below. The Scala (-24.7%) pays for a particularly strong year-ago volume at #5 ahead of the Fabia (+7.2%) and a surging Superb (+74.1%). This means there are 7 Skodas in the Top 7 for the fourth time in Czech history after January 2022, April 2023 and May 2023. As usual the Hyundai i30 (+5.8%) is the best of the rest at #8 with the Kia Ceed (+58.3%) impressive at #9. Just outside the Top 10, the Tesla Model 3 (+3837.5%) and Model Y (+294.9%) both soar.
