Colombia September 2024: Toyota Corolla Cross back in charge, market up 9.8%

The Toyota Corolla Cross is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia in September.

The Colombian new vehicle market jumps 9.8% year-on-year in September to 17,144 units. However September 2023 was off -34.7% on the year prior which means this month is the 2nd lowest September result in the past 10 years. The year-to-date tally tilts into positive as a result at +0.7% to 135,463. Toyota (+26.4%) reclaims the brands top spot it holds year-to-ate with 14.9% share. Renault (+0.8%) is weak year-on-year but manages to stay in 2nd place with 12.5% of the market. Leader last month, Kia (+50.7%) is still in outstanding shape but drops to #3. Mazda (+6.7%) and Chevrolet (-30.8%) underperform at #4 and #5 respectively. Hyundai (+77.6%) delivers the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 with Volkswagen (+20.1%), Nissan (+14.3%) and Suzuki (+11.8%) also beating the market. BYD (+292%) shoots up at #11.

The Toyota Corolla Cross (+113.3%) flies off to get back to #1, a ranking it also holds year-to-date. The Mazda CX-30 (+4.7%) is pushed down to #3 while the Kia K3 is also down one spot on last month to #3.  The Renault Duster (-5%) struggles at #4 ahead of the Toyota Hilux (+8%) and Kia Picanto (+5.7%). Outstanding results for the Nissan Frontier (+92.3%), Toyota Prado (+63.7%) and Ford Escape (+29.8%) in the remainder of the Top 10.
