Belgium August 2024: BMW breaks share record, Volvo up in sinking market (-20.3%)

BMW holds an all-time high 13.8% share in Belgium in August.

The Belgian new car market skids -20.3% year-on-year in August to 29,233 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -3.3% to 324,892. The Top 4 brands are once again monopolised by German manufacturers. BMW (-0.4%) is stable and improves its share to 13.8% vs. 10.7% year-to-date, beating its share record as it eclipses its previous best of 13.6% reached last December. Volkswagen (-30.4%) freefalls but remains #2. Mercedes (-7.5%) overtakes Audi (-30.4%) to land on the third step of the podium. Peugeot (-5.7%) rounds out the Top 5 above Renault (-0.7%) and Toyota (-7.9%) also limiting their fall. Volvo (+8.9%) is the only carmaker in positive in the Top 20. BYD (+485%) continues to gear up at #23, ranking #1 Chinese brand as MG (-88.8%) implodes.
