Czechia July 2024: 7 Skodas in Top 7 for the first time this year

Sales of Skoda Superb are up 81% year-on-year in July

17,452 new car hit Czech road in July, a solid 8.5% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is now up 3.8% to 136,673. Skoda (-2.5%) goes against its positive home market but still accounts for an overwhelming 31.5% share vs. 33.2% so far the year. Toyota (+21.3%) excels and climbs to #2, distancing Volkswagen (-4.2%) and a freefalling Hyundai (-26.4%). The latter however remains in 2nd place year-to-date. Four of the next five models vastly outpace the overall growth rate with at least double-digit gains. Volvo (+117.5%) is the most dynamic and jumps three spots on June to #9, while Dacia (+66.2%), Ford (+49%) and Mercedes (+39.4%) also impress. MG (+61.8%) equals its highest ranking at #12, also reached in August and October 2023. Opel (+189.5%), Tesla (+181.6%) and Cupra (+112.4%) surge below.

Model-wise, Skoda places seven models in the Top 7 for the 4th time in history after January 2022, April 2023 and May 2023. The Skoda Octavia (-42.8%) remains in the lead despite a daunting year-on-year fall bringing it down to 6.5% share vs. 9.4% year-to-date. The Skoda Karoq soars 62.9% year-on-year and four spots on last month to #2, ahead of a similarly strong Skoda Kodiaq (+47.2%). The Fabia (-8.4%) suffers but ranks above the Superb (+81%), Kamiq (-10%) and Scala (-0.2%). The only unsuccessful Skoda at home is the Enyaq (-67.5%) down to a paltry 88th place. The Hyundai i30 (-36.2%) is the best of the rest at #9 ahead of the Hyundai Tucson (-15.3%) and Kia Ceed (+4.5%).
