Argentina July 2024: Toyota Hilux threepeats at #1 in stabilised market
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Argentina in July.
After sinking -25.5% last month, new light vehicle sales in Argentina edge down just -4% year-on-year in July to 40,284 units. This way, the year-to-date tally reduces its fall to a still daunting -19.1% to 214,340. The Top 3 brands defy the negative market with year-on-year lifts: Toyota is up 0.8% to 23.8% share vs. 22.1% so far this year, Volkswagen surges 29.4% to 17.4% vs. 15.5% and Ford is up 22% to 10.5% vs. 9.3%. In contrast Fiat (-21.3%), Chevrolet (-22.6%), Peugeot (-23%) and Renault (-31.2%) are all hit hard. Jeep (+61.1%) and Citroen (+6.6%) are the only additional gainers in the Top 10. Ram (+3325%) and Honda (+247.1%) post surreal upticks below.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+15.6%) threepeats at #1 with a solid 8.5% share, its highest so far this year. The Peugeot 208 (-18.2%) follows in great difficulty while the Ford Ranger (+32.3%) shoots up to #3, its second podium finish this year after last February. Still clear leader year-to-date, the Fiat Cronos (-33.6%) tumbles down to #4 with 7% share vs. 8.7% year-to-date. The VW Polo (+114.7%), Toyota Yaris (+85.1%), VW Taos (+51.5%), Toyota Corolla Cross (+37.7%) and Toyota Corolla (+27.5%) all shine further down.
