Chile June 2024: Podium 100% pickups in stable market

The GWM Poer is up to #2 in Chile in June.

New light vehicle sales in Chile are stable in June at -0.5% to 22,567 units. The H1 2024 tally is down -10.5% to 142,486. Toyota (-22.3%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date despite enduring the largest year-on-year fall in the Top 12. Hyundai (-11.9%) and Chevrolet (-10.7%) also struggle in the remainder of the podium. On the plus side, Kia (+18.2%), Ford (+15.9%) and Peugeot (+15.8%) all post very satisfying gains, but GWM (+75.5%), Citroen (+72.4%) and Mitsubishi (+67.6%) perform markedly better below. Notice also Jetour (+154.8%) breaking into the Top 20 for the first time at #20. Chinese brands as a whole are up 2.4% to 28.5% share vs. 29.6% YTD.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-6.1%) is ultra dominant at 3.9% share, well above the 3.2% it commands year-to-date. The GWM Poer (+27.9%) advances one spot on last month to #2 while the Mitsubishi L200 (+162.2%) makes the podium entirely composed of pickup trucks. The Chevrolet Groove, stable, follows just 2 units below its the Citroen Berlingo (+72.1%) surging from outside the May Top 40 directly into 5th place. The next four nameplates all beat the market with double-digit gains. The Hyundai Grand i10 (+55.8%) is the most dynamic ahead of the Hyundai Accent (+51.6%), Ford Ranger (+46%) and Kia Soluto (+15.4%).
