The New Caledonian new light vehicle market edges up 2.7% year-on-year in 2023 to 8,564 units. Toyota (+0.7%) easily remains in the brands lead but sees its market share slide slightly from 21.1% to 20.7%. Renault (+46%) is up five spots on 2022 to #2 overall with 8% share with Suzuki (+49.7%) doing even better and also up five ranks to #4. At #3, Peugeot (+3.1%) matches the market growth while Ford (+5.8%) shines but drops one spot to #5. All remaining Top 10 brands lose ground, with Kia (-26.8%) and Dacia (-22.5%) hit the hardest. Below, notice Isuzu (+137.9%), Audi (+52.2%), Subaru (+34.3%) and MG (+28.5%).
Model-wise, the podium is entirely composed of pickup trucks. The Toyota Hilux (-8.1%) is dominant again despite a significant loss, while the Isuzu D-Max (+154.9%) surges a splendid 14 ranks on last year to end 2023 at #2. The Ford Ranger (-2.9%) is relegated to #3. The Suzuki Swift (+73%) also excels and climbs 6 spots to #4, followed by the Peugeot 208 (+20.8%) and Hyundai Tucson (+23.5%) also in great shape. The Citroen Berlingo (+7.2%) cracks the Top 10.
