Portugal March 2024: Renault Clio and Tesla Model 3 on top

The Renault Clio is the best-selling vehicle in Portugal in March.

The Portuguese new car market steps up 6.2% year-on-year in March to 22,796 registrations, a solid score given March 2023 was itself up 60.1% on the year prior. The Q1 volume is up 13.1% to 59,044. Renault (+54.2%) soars to snap the brands top spot off Peugeot (-15.4%) enduring the only year-on-year drop in the Top 7. Dacia (+38.3%) and Mercedes (+26.3%) are both up one rank on last month to #3 and #4 respectively, while Nissan (+82%) climbs five spots to #5. Tesla (+19.6%) also beats the market at #7 as does Citroen (+9.6%) at #6. Below, Mitsubishi (+146.8%), MG (+104.9%) and Fiat (+45.2%) stand out.

Over in the models lane, the Renault Clio (+233.6%) roars up seven spots on February to top the models charts with 4.7% share. It’s the nameplate’s first win since last May. The Tesla Model 3 (+201.2%) is also in stellar shape at #2 and ranks #4 year-to-date where it is up 292.9% year-on-year. The Dacia Sandero (+66.5%) is up three spots to #3 and the Nissan Juke (+471%) is up spectacularly to #4. #1 last month, the Renault Captur (+24.4%) is down to #5 in March but still outruns the market. The Dacia Jogger (+95%) scores a 6th Top 10 finish in the past 7 months while the Peugeot 308 (+65.6%) also shines at #10. Leader year-to-date, the Peugeot 2008 (-41.9%) implodes to a paltry 9th place.
