Argentina February 2024: Volkswagen, Jeep, Ram defy market diving -18.3%

The Rampage helps Ram sales shoot up.

Sales of new light vehicles in Argentina continue to struggle with a -18.3% year-on-year loss in February to 23,457 units. The year-to-date tally is now down -27.1% to 55,847. After ranking #3 in January, Toyota (-20.9%) reclaims the top spot it held over the Full Year 2023 with a very strong 20.1% share. It also advances to #1 year-to-date. Volkswagen (+10.7%) repeats at #2 with 15.6% of the market while Fiat (-29.4%), #1 in January, falls to #3 this month, but at 13.9% still managing a higher share than at home in Italy (12%). Renault (-20.2%) and Ford (-15.4%) leap frog past Peugeot (-34.4%) while Chevrolet (-41.6%) implodes. Jeep (+42.8%) is the only remaining Top 10 member in positive. Below, Ram (+1010%) and BMW (+238.5%) impress.

The locally-made Fiat Cronos (-33.4%) and the Peugeot 208 (-35.6%) continue to top the models charts despite harsh falls, while the Ford Ranger (-10.4%) overtakes its archenemy the Toyota Hilux (-27.3%). The Toyota Yaris (+115.8%) shoots up to #5 vs. #27 over the Full Year 2023, it is followed by a struggling VW Amarok (-27.4%). The remainder of the Top 10 all post market-defying gains, with the Toyota Corolla (+68.6%) the most dynamic ahead of the VW Polo (+42.5%), Taos (+30.8%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+9%).
