Switzerland November 2023: Skoda 1-2 with Enyaq and Octavia

The Skoda Enyaq repeats at #1 in Switzerland.

New car sales in Switzerland edge up 2.8% year-on-year in September to 22,005 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 12% to 225,266. 4×4 sales are up 3.5% to 11,254 and 51.1% share and up 13% year-to-date to 114,349 and 50.8% share. HEVs are up 12.2% for the month to 6,235 and 28.3% share vs. 26% a year ago and up 22.6% year-to-date to 61,756 and 27.4% share vs. 25%. PHEVs surge 29% to 2,164 and 9.8% share vs. 7.8% and ain 22.7% YTD to 20,438 and 9.1% share vs. 8.3%. Finally BEVs disappoint at +8.1% to 4,748 and 21.6% share vs. 20.5% in November 2022 but soar 36.5% YTD to 45,488 and 20.2% share vs. 16.6% over the same period a year ago.

In the brands ranking, Volkswagen drops -8.4% but stays at #1 while BMW (+4.4%) overtakes Skoda (+24.1%) for #2. Audi (-2.3%) stays at #4 ahead of Mercedes (+2.2%), Toyota (-4.5%) and Renault (-2.8%) all underperforming. Hyundai (+24.1%) shines, Tesla (-1%) ranks #9 and Dacia (+1.9%) rounds out the Top 10. Below, Opel (+30.4%), Kia (+25.8%), Fiat (+21.2%) and Volvo (+11.8%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Skoda Enyaq (+2.5%) repeats at #1 with 2.4% share, with Skoda managing a 1-2 this month as the Octavia (+134.2%) ranks #2 wth 2.3% share. The Audi Q4 (+156.8%) drops one spot on October but ranks at a still very impressive #3 vs. #9 year-to-date. Still by far the year-to-date leader, the Tesla Model Y (-42.2%) freefalls at #4 this month. The Mercedes GLC (+125%), BMW X1 (+83.3%), Skoda Kodiaq (+45.3%) and BMW X3 (+33%) all manage very impressive year-on-year lifts in the remainder of the Top 10.
