Kazakhstan July 2023: Hyundai now #1 YTD, Bayon up to #3, sales up 61.7%
The Hyundai Bayon lodges its first podium finish in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh new vehicle market continues on its euphoric run with sales up a whopping 61.7% year-on-year in July to 18,818. This way, the year-to-date volume is up 61.1% to 102,069. Both are all-time high by far. For perspective, this is 166.7% above pre-pandemic July 2019 and +160.8% over the first 7 months of 2019. Hyundai (+96.4%) almost doubles its year-ago volume to 27.3% share and snaps the YTD pole position off Chevrolet (-6.2%) which holds 19.9% of the market in July. Kia (+70.6%) remains in third place both for the month and YTD while Toyota (+31%) is back up four spots on June to #4. Chery (+169.6%), JAC (+173.8%) and Haval (+1637%) all post fantastic gains while newcomer Changan ranks at a solid 8th place with 3.8% share vs. 3% year-to-date. Lexus (+1.2%) and Exeed (+97.5%) round out the Top 10.
Over in the models aisle, the Chevrolet Cobalt (-22.9%) easily remains in the top spot despite a hefty year-on-year loss, accounting for 11.5% of the market vs. 16.7% year-to-date. The Kia Sportage (+35.2%) is up two spots on June to #2 while the Hyundai Bayon is up seven ranks to #3 with 1,217 sales and 6.5% share, all new records for the nameplate. The Chevrolet Onix is down two spots to #4, still strong with 5.2% share. The Hyundai Sonata (+113.9%) and Santa Fe (+97.1%) follow and both beat the market whereas the Hyundai Tucson (-5.4%) is in difficulty at #7. Below, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro (+137.1%), Toyota Camry (+27050%) and JAC J7 (+335%) all shine.
