Colombia June 2023: Mazda (+155%), Ford (+17%) defy freefalling market
The Mazda CX-30 is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia in June.
The Colombian new vehicle market continues to freefall in June at -38.1% year-on-year to just 14,435 units, which is the largest drop of the year so far. The H1 2023 volume is down 26.6% to 90,869. According to ANDEMOS, this drop has many triggers, such as the economic slowdown, the reduction in consumer confidence index, the poor exchange rate, prices, inflation, access to credit and interest rates. Toyota (-16.6%) keeps its loss below the market rate and repeats at #1, lodging its 2nd ever top spot finish in Colombia. Renault (-59.6%) is relegated to 2nd place like in May. Mazda (+155%) lodges the performance of the month as year-ago sales endured the worst of stock shortages. Chevrolet (-49.9%) is down to #4 above Kia (-27.1%) and Nissan (-35.6%). Ford (+17%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10.
Over in the models charts, illustrating the brand’s outstanding shape, the Mazda CX-30 (+53.4%) snaps its first win since October 2021 with a splendid 5.1% share. The Renault Duster (-33.1%) comes in 2nd place and hold onto the YTD top spot. Leader last month, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-39.3%) falls in third position ahead of the Kia Picanto (-31.5%) and Toyota Hilux (-29.1%), both camping on their May rankings. The Mazda2 (+469.1%) skyrockets up to #6 and the Mazda CX-5 (+244.7%) to #10 but the Suzuki Swift (-79.1%), Renault Kwid (-67.8%) and Chevrolet Onix (-51.4%) all freefall.
