Argentina June 2023: Peugeot 208 signs first win

The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling vehicle in Argentina for the first time.

The Argentinean new light vehicle market advances 12.9% year-on-year in June to 37,266 sales, leading to a first half tally up 13.4% to 222,203. Toyota (+15.5%) edges past the market growth to easily remain in the brands lead with 23.4% share vs. 22.2% so far this year. Far below is Volkswagen (-7.6%) in difficulty. Peugeot (+107.6%) signs the biggest gain in the Top 12 and climbs to third place, overtaking Renault (+20.8%) and Fiat (-15%). Jeep (+100.3%), Nissan (+48%) and Ford (+30.1%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Chevrolet (-20.2%) and Citroen (-14%) struggle.

We have a first in the models ranking: the Peugeot 208 (+195.7%) triples its sales year-on-year to snap its first monthly win with a splendid 10.8% share. It dislodges the Fiat Cronos (+38.5%) albeit also in great shape. The Toyota Hilux (+20%) and Etios (+89.2%) follow, with the VW Amarok (+30.4%) rounding out the Top 5. The Renault Kangoo (+37.7%), Ford Ranger (+112.5%), Toyota Corolla Cross (+19.2%) and Nissan Frontier (+84%) ensure the entire Top 9 models outpace the market.
