Slovenia May 2023: Skoda Octavia and Kodiaq top market up 1.4%

The Skoda Kodiaq is up to a record 2nd place in Slovenia in May.

New car sales in Slovenia edge up 1.4% year-on-year in May to 4,853 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 5.5% to 22,641. The brands podium remains unchanged on last month and year-to-date and entirely outpaces the market. Volkswagen (+9.4%) dominates with 16.5% share vs. 15.5% so far this year above Skoda (+71.1%) up to 13.6% share vs. 10.8% YTD and Renault (+21.3%) at 9.4%. In contrast, all remaining Top 8 members lose ground year-on-year, with Peugeot (-37.1%), Opel (-31.4%) and Kia (-27.8%) hit the hardest. Below, Tesla (+12600%!), MG (+5200%), Suzuki (+197.4%), Mercedes (+47%), Audi (+38.6%) and BMW (+31.4%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+174.4%) repeats at #1 while the Skoda Kodiaq (+61.8%) is up 16 spots on last month to climb to the 2nd place, the nameplate’s highest ever ranking in Slovenia, eclipsing the #3 previous best it hit back in December 2019. The VW Golf (+11.7%) is up to third place vs. #17 year-to-date, ahead of the Renault Captur (+10.1%) and VW T-Roc (-13.9%). The Renault Clio (+63.9%) and VW Tiguan (+47.5%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10, although the Clio is down to #8.
