Cyprus March 2023: Mini Countryman best-seller, market soaring 106.5%

The Mini Countryman is the most popular vehicle in Cyprus in March.

Based on data shared with us by SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, new car sales in Cyprus surge 106.5% year-on-year in March to 1,751 units. As a result, the Q1 volume is up 32% over the same period a year ago to 4,037. The Top 4 best-selling brands all outpace an already galloping market. Kia (+226%) easily leads the way with 19.4% share vs. 16.1% YTD, and is followed by Toyota (+131.4%) at 16% share vs. 13% YTD, Mini (+764.7%) and Hyundai (+229.7%). Volkswagen (+42.7%) and Mercedes (+50.8%) are more muted. Below, Renault (+542.9%), Porsche (+156.3%) and Jeep (+136.8%) stand out. Notice also newcomer Cupra up 15 spots on February to #15.

The Mini Countryman (+1427.3%) posts a stratospheric year-on-year rise to take control of the models charts with a record 9.6% share. It is the first time the Countryman ranks #1 in Cyprus, eclipsing its previous best of #2 reached in March 2018. The Kia Stonic (+1250%) also shoots up to stay #2, distancing last month’s leader the Toyota Yaris (+100%). The Kia Rio (+165.5%) beats the market at #4 whereas the VW T-Roc (+16.9%) disappoint. The Kia Picanto (+1100%), Hyundai Tucson (+400%), Kia Ceed (+314.3%) and Toyota RAV4 (estimated +170.8%) also impress.
