Uruguay February 2023: Fiat (+500%) soars to #1 spot, registrations up 6.3%
The Uruguayan new light vehicle market posts another solid gain in February at +6.3% year-on-year to 3,643 units. So far this year, sales are up 11.2% to 7,443. Up from #9 last month and a whopping 500% year-on-year, Fiat stands in pole position this month for the first time since March 2022. Volkswagen (-15.8%) is up one spot on January to #2 despite a drastic loss. Chevrolet (-40.3%) fares even worse but keeps the YTD top spot thanks to a very strong January score. Peugeot (+74.8%), Suzuki (+19.5%), Nissan (+17.1%) and Toyota (+10.8%) all beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Hyundai (-59.4%) implodes. Just below, the Top 4 Chinese brands are all in great shape, with Changan (+275%) the most dynamic followed by BYD (+104.2%), Jetour (+62.2%) and Chery (+11.3%).
