Slovakia February 2023: Kia Ceed and Toyota Yaris Cross top market up 10.3%
The Toyota Yaris Cross is up to a record 2nd place in February.
The Slovak new car market is up 10.3% year-on-year in February to 6,623 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 13.3% to 13,303. Skoda (+28.3%) easily beats the market to lead the brands ranking at 18.3% share. It is followed by Toyota (+20.4%) also advancing faster than the average growth to 14.2% share vs. 13.3% year-to-date. In contrast, Kia (+9.3%) and Hyundai (-5.3%) are weak, but not as much as Volkswagen (-18.9%) in freefall to just 5.6% share vs. 6.6% so far this year. Renault (+37.1%), Dacia (+33.9%), Mercedes (+30.2%) and Peugeot (+23.3%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Kia Ceed (+33.3%) is up six spots on January to sign its first monthly win since December 2021. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+93.9%) is up three ranks to smash its ranking record at #2. The Skoda Octavia (+39.8%) rallies back up 9 spots to #3 ahead of the Hyundai Tucson (-21.8%) down one to #4. Leader last month, the Skoda Fabia (+8.4%) falls to #5, followed by the Skoda Scala (+113.5%) in outstanding shape. The Skoda Kamiq (+39.5%) is the only additional Top 10 models to beat the market. Notice also the new Toyota Corolla Cross up to a record #11 and the Dacia Jogger at #17.
