Portugal February 2023: Peugeot 208 and Tesla Model Y atop market up 39%
The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling vehicle in Portugal in February.
The Portuguese new car market soars another 39% year-on-year in February to 16,080 registrations, bringing the year-to-date tally up 43.5% to 30,719. Peugeot (+23.4%) trails the market but easily holds onto the top spot with 13.9% share vs. 11.6% so far this year. Renault (+55%) remains in 2nd place with 7.7% share ahead of BMW (+21%) and Toyota (+8.7%) both at 6.6% share. Below a weak Mercedes (+0.6%), Volkswagen (+82.2%) and Tesla (+676.1%) show insolent health. Dacia (+132.4%) and Seat (+73.5%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Land Rover (+183%), Mazda (+143.5%), Opel (+129.1%) and Ford (+121.4%) stand out.
The Peugeot 208 (+107.9%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to take the lead of the models charts with 6.5% share vs. 3.6% so far this year. The 208 is now also #1 year-to-date for just six sales above the Peugeot 2008 (+6.4%) down to #3 this month. The Tesla Model Y (+1014.3%) lurches up 21 spots on January to smash its ranking record to #2 (previous best was #7 last November). The Dacia Sandero (+154.3%) is up 13 ranks to #4 above the Seat Arona (+117.9%) with the Toyota C-HR (+144.7%), Ford Focus (+576.4%), Opel Corsa (+135.2%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+75.8%) also posting great performances.
