Romania October 2022: Dacia Logan back in charge in market up 9.7%
The Dacia Logan is back to #1 at home after for the first time since June.
New car sales in Romania gain 9.7% year-on-year in October to 10,541 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 8.1% to 105,818. Local behemoth Dacia (+18.2%) almost manages double its home market growth to 30.3% share vs. 29.2% so far this year. Renault (+25.4%) climbs up four spots on last month to #2 with Toyota (+1.5%) underperforming at #3. Skoda (+82.5%) is up spectacularly year-on-year but drops one spot on September to #4. Hyundai (-24.5%) is in difficulty and rounds out the Top 5. Citroen (+103.5%) and Suzuki (+35.7%) are the only remaining Top 10 brands in positive. Below and in order of sales, BMW (+23.4%), Audi (+43.9%), Tesla (+122.6%), Jeep (+26.1%), Cupra (+206.3%) and DS (+1000%) make themselves noticed.
Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (-22%) returns to the pole position for the first time since June and after three consecutive months of reign by the Dacia Sandero, and this despite a harsh year-on-year loss going against the positive market. The Dacia Duster (+75.1%) shoots up year-on-year to remain in 2nd place just 46 units below the Logan. The Sandero (+14.7%) beats the market but drops two spots on September to #3 while the Dacia Spring (+44%) ensures the Top 4 is 100% Dacia like it is YTD. The Renault Clio (+38.2%) is the best-selling foreigner, up 7 ranks on last month to #5, followed by the Hyundai Tucson (+31.3%) and Skoda Octavia (+117.2%) also in outstanding shape. The Dacia Jogger seems to have stabilised around the 10th place, up two spots on September to #9 this month. The Renault Arkana (+308.7%) and Citroen C3 (+280.4%) post surreal gains below.
