Kuwait 9 months 2022: Toyota Prado holds 11.1% share of market down -6.2%

The Toyota Prado is the most popular vehicle in Kuwait so far in 2022.

The Kuwaiti new light vehicle market drops -6.2% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2022. Toyota (+23.1%) defies the overall gloom with a fantastic uptick leading the brand to a mammoth 37.9% share. That’s 4.5 times any other carmaker in the country. Chevrolet (-3.2%) and Mitsubishi (-22.5%) both overtake a freefalling Nissan (-55%) to rank #2 and #3 respectively. Ford (-5.5%) passes Kia (-24.3%) just as MG (+38.1%) posts the largest year-on-year lift in the Top 10 and climbs three spots on its FY2021 ranking to #7. Hyundai (-17.6%), Honda (-33.7%) and GMC (-0.4%) round out the Top 10. Chinese carmakers are euphoric with Changan (+42.3%) and Geely (+32%) also posting large gains. We now have Audi, Bentley, Skoda and Volkswagen in the charts.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Prado (+269.6%) scores a sensational gain to easily grab the top spot with 11.1% share, almost double the #2, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-27.1%) which was #1 over the Full Year 2021. The Toyota Camry (-23%) is also in great difficulty but holds onto #3. The Chevrolet Captiva (+3.3%) aka Baojun 530 continues to gear up at an impressive 4th place overall and is the only non-Toyota model in the Top 7. It indeed distances the Toyota Corolla (+74.7%), Hiace (+8.2%) and Hilux (-27.2%). The Ford F-Series (+11.7%) is up to #8 above the Nissan Patrol (-42.6%) imploding. The Chevrolet Tahoe closes the Top 10 ahead of the GMC Yukon (+52.5%) up from #22 over FY2021 to #11 so far in 2022. Notice also the Ford Bronco at #27.
