Finland September 2022: Skoda Octavia #1 again, BMW i4 in Top 10, market up for the first time in 15 months

New car sales in Finland edge up 4.8% year-on-year in September to 6,706 registrations. This is the first year-on-year uptick in this market since June 2021. The year-to-date tally remains in deep negative at -19.2% to 61,688 units. Toyota (+10.9%) beats the market to easily remain in first place with 14.7% share. Skoda (+54.4%) surges ahead to #2 but stays #4 year-to-date, while Kia (-12.8%), although in bad shape year-on-year, manages to overtake Volkswagen (-0.2%) in the YTD charts to rank #2. Volvo (+70.1%) is up spectacularly at #4, as are Mercedes (+49.9%) and BMW (+15%) in the remainder of the Top 10. Tesla (-46.2%) and Ford (-38.8%) both freefall. Below, notice Peugeot (+267.3%), Dacia (+137.7%), Polestar (+2850%) and Cupra (+409.1%) all posting surreal gains.
Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+129.2%) is very strong and repeats at #1. It now ranks #6 year-to-date vs. #3 over the Full Year 2021 and distances the Kia Ceed (+76.9%) and Toyota Corolla (-26.5%). The Corolla easily remains the best-seller YTD with 5.9% share. Below, the Toyota Yaris (+62.5%), RAV4 (+28.5%) and Volvo XC40 (+180.8%) all score fantastic gains as does the Volvo XC60 (+62.5%) further down. The BMW i4 delivers its first ever Top 10 finish in Finland at #9. The Skoda Enyaq (+221.6%), Mercedes CLA (#12), Nissan Leaf (#15 and now inside the YTD Top 30), VW ID.4 (+71.1%), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (+163%) and Skoda Kodiaq (+106.9%) also shine.
