Uruguay August 2022: Suzuki topples Volkswagen in market up 8.6%

Suzuki is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay in August.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay gain 8.6% year-on-year in August to 4,169 units, bringing the year-to-date cume up 1.2% to 33,439. Down to a paltry 16th spot last month, Suzuki (-3%) catches up on lost time and rallies back up to the August pole position even though it loses sales year-on-year. Chevrolet (+491.2%) continues to compensate for stock-restricted year-ago volumes but has to settle with 2nd place just 8 sales below Suzuki. Volkswagen (+12.6%), Renault (+23.3%) and Hyundai (+14.3%) also lose one spot on July but all sport market-beating double-digit gains. Fiat (-50.7%) implodes and distances Toyota (+23%) and Nissan (+4.8%) sitting on both sides of the market growth. Honda (+31.4%) is back up 17 ranks on July to #10 vs. #15 year-to-date.
