Pakistan August 2022: Hyundai (+170.9%) ignores freefalling market (-46.5%)

Second consecutive freefall for the Pakistani new light vehicle market with August sales down a daunting -46.5% year-on-year to just 11,645. However thanks to a very strong start of the year, the YTD tally remains in positive at +12.6% to 166,783. Brand leader Suzuki (-67.2%) falls even faster than the market to a meagre 34% share v. 52.9% so far this year. It is threatened for first place by Toyota (-31.3%) up to 33.3% share vs. 25.6% YTD. The most impressive evolution of the month by far goes to Hyundai (+170.9%) overtaking Honda (-44%) to snap a record third place overall. In the models ranking, the Suzuki Alto (-54.4%) retains the top spot by far, with the Toyota Corolla (-18.4%) and Yaris (-35%) estimated to round out the podium. The Hyundai Tucson (+413%) is up 10 spots on July to land at a stellar 4th place above the Honda Civic (-47.3%). The Hyundai Elantra (+125.2%) and Suzuki Swift (+245.5%) also shine below.
