Argentina August 2022: Toyota (+42%), Renault (+42.9%), Peugeot (+78.6%) shine, sales up 19.3%
Toyota holds 20.3% of the Argentinean market in August.
37,882 new vehicles found a buyer in Argentina in August, a very solid 19.3% year-on-year uptick. The year-to-date tally now stands at 286,414, up 5.4% on the year prior and one of the rare markets in the world with a YTD volume in positive. Toyota (+42%) once again doubles the market rise to increase the gap with its flowers both for the month (20.3% share) and year-to-date (19.9%). Volkswagen (+14.5%) stays at #2 above Fiat (-7.1%) in difficulty. Renault (+42.9%) and Peugeot (+78.6%) also sport fantastic gains to round out the Top 5. Citroen (+38.1%) and Ford (+29.4%) also shine below while outside the Top 10 Foton (+240%) and Audi (+55.2%) stand out. There are also some very harsh falls in the ranking such as Chery (-44.9%), BMW (-45.7%), Hyundai (-48.8%) and DS (-58.1%).
The Fiat Cronos (-22.5%) continues to dominate the models charts but sees its market share thaw to 7.3% vs. 9.9% year-to-date. The Peugeot 208 (+142.2%) is lurking behind with 6.3% of the market, in line with the 6.2% it commands YTD. The Toyota Hilux (+13.2%) and VW Amarok (+70.9%) ensure the Top 4 models are identical to July and YTD. The rest of the Top 9 all outpace the market, with the Renault Sandero (+130.1%) the most dynamic followed by the Toyota Yaris (+69.1%), Renault Kangoo (+52.7%), Toyota Etios (+45.5%) and Corolla Cross (+43.7%). The Fiat Pulse (#22) is the best-selling recent launch in the country, it distances the Ford Maverick (#27) and Bronco (#39).
