Slovakia June 2022: Hyundai i30 #1, Toyota RAV4 and Dacia Duster impress in market edging down -2.4%

The Toyota RAV4 is up to #3 in Slovakia in June.

8,024 new cars hit Slovak roads in June, a -2.4% year-on-year decline. This brings the H1 2022 tally up 3.9% to 39,953 units. In the brands ranking, Skoda (-15.1%) continues to struggle but easily tops the charts with 17.4% share vs. 16.4% year-to-date. The next five carmakers all outpace the market. Hyundai (+4.6%) stays in 2nd place with 11.7% share vs. 12.8% so far this year, distancing Kia (-0.3%), Volkswagen (+0.6%) and Toyota (-1.7%). Dacia (+68.7%) is by far the best performer in the Top 10 and Top 15. Citroen (+12.8%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10 whereas Opel (-26.4%), Mercedes (-26.3%) and Peugeot (-12.3%) under perform. Below, notice Jeep (+195.5%), Fiat (+107.5%), Seat (+59%) and Ford (+43.2%) all lodging stellar gains.

Model-wise, the Hyundai i30 (+3.3%) continues to dominate and cements its year-to-date leadership. This month it distances the Skoda Octavia (+4.3%) rallying back up 11 spots on May to #2 but still at a low #6 year-to-date. The Toyota RAV4 (+44.2%) is up three ranks on last month to land on the third step of the podium ahead of the Kia Ceed (+12%) and a Skoda Fabia in freefall (-35%). The Dacia Duster (+87.8%) is the biggest gainer in the Top 12 and lifts 9 spots on May to #6. The Dacia Sandero (+67%), VW Tiguan (+50%) and Kia Sportage (+22.7%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 with the Hyundai Tucson (+7.8%) also beating the negative market. The Toyota Yaris Cross (#25) is the best-selling recent launch, overtaking the VW Taigo (#27).
