Puerto Rico (USA) Full Year 2021: Podium 100% Toyota, Corolla new #1 in market up 35.9%
The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in Puerto Rico in 2021.
129.145 new light vehicles hit the Puerto Rican roads in 2021, an increase of 35.9% over 2020 (95,020). Toyota (+19.3%) trails the market but remains ultra dominant at 23.7% share, followed like in 2020 by Hyundai (+37.1%) edging past the market growth. Nissan (+61%) shoots up one spot on last year to #3, overtaking Kia (+32.6%). Ford (+56%) is also in outstanding shape and remains the best-selling U.S. brand on the island. Below, Mitsubishi (+64.2%), BMW (+57.5%) and Honda (+52.3%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10. Genesis (+180.7%), Buick (+170.6%) and Mazda (+109%) also shine further down.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+95%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year and gains three spots on 2020 to land in the pole position ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (+13%) and Tacoma (+67.7%) in a podium 100% Toyota. The Hyundai Tucson (+11.4%) is down two ranks to #4 while the Hyundai Venue (+61%) is up two to #5. The Nissan Versa (+65.7%), Mitsubishi Outlander (+258.4%) and Kia Seltos (+64.2%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Just outside, the Kia Sportage (+141.4%) also makes waves. The Ford Bronco Sport (#23) is the best-selling 2021 launch above the Kia Carnival (#53) and Toyota Corolla Cross (#65).
