China imports February 2022: Lexus regains top spot in market sinking -22.5%

The Lexus RX is back up to #2 in the imports ranking in February.

Whereas the wholesales market is up 18.7% and exports soar 60.5% in February, imports sink -22.6% year-on-year to a meagre 42,450 units. Lexus (-13.9%) reclaims the top spot off Mercedes (-13.4%) both for the month and year-to-date while BMW (-42.3%) stays at #3 despite falling almost twice as fast as the market. Audi (-28.7%) overtakes Porsche (-26.5%) while Mini (+27.1%) and Toyota (+6.9%) score the only two year-on-year lifts in the Top 10. Land Rover (-14.4%) resists while Volvo (-22.2%) and Subaru (-25.2%) find themselves on each side of the market evolution. Lamborghini (+206.7%), Aston Martin (+104%), Infiniti (+47.7%) and Rolls Royce (+9.2%) also defy the depleted market further down.

Model-wise, the Lexus ES (-14.6%) resists better than the market and sells more than twice as much as its follower the Lexus RX (+7.8%) up year-on-year and two spots on last month to #2. The Mercedes GLE (-14.8%) drops to #3 ahead of the BMW X5 (-25%) and Lexus NX (-29.3%) down significantly year-on-year but up 17 ranks on January to #5, its ranking for the Full Year 2021. The Mercedes S-Class (-1.6%) stays at #6 above the Mini (+13.5%) up five spots on last month to #7, the Mercedes GLS (+28.2%) is down one rank on January to #8 but delivers a stellar year-on-year gain, not as high as the Porsche Panamera though (+810.4%) rounding out the Top 10
