Morocco Full Year 2021: Dacia Sandero topples Dokker in market up 30% to record volume

New light vehicle sales in Morocco surge 30% year-on-year in 2021 to 173,270 units, a new all-time volume record, breaking the previous best hit in 2017 (168,593). Dacia (+20.6%) has now been the best-selling brand in Morocco for the past 12 years. It distances Renault (+32%) with the two sister brands adding up to 39.2% of the market vs. 41% a year ago. Peugeot (+56.3%) overtakes Hyundai (+31.6%) to hold the third spot overall, while Citroen (+35.5%) is up two spots to #5. Toyota (+60.3%) also outpaces the market at #8, while further down Mahindra (+225.2%), Audi (+104.1%), Kia (+92.3%), BMW (+68%), Porsche (+52.2%) and Skoda (+43.6%) excel.
Helped by the launch of the new generation, the Dacia Sandero (+42.1%) “proudly made in Morocco” as the adverts say, topples the Dacia Dokker (+13.1%) to end the year in pole position. The Dacia Logan (+24.5%) closes a podium 100% Dacia like last year. The Renault Clio (+27.2%) stays in 4th place above the Dacia Duster (+40.2%) up one spot to #5. The Peugeot 208 (+95.4%) is up two to #6 while the Renault Express, the virtual replacement for the Dokker, lands directly at #7. The Hyundai Tucson (+61.4%) and Accent (+79.5%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.
