New car sales in Hungary are down -4.8% year-on-year in 2021 to 121,920 units. Suzuki (+19.4%) spectacularly cements its domination in its home away from home (it has a local production facility), going from 11.5% share in 2020 to 14.5% this year. It is followed like last year by Toyota (-4.7%) and Ford (-9.7%) closer to the market evolution. Kia (+45%) lodges the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 – and Top 25 for that matter, and lifts four spots to #4 overall. It bypasses Skoda (-23%), Dacia (-29.6%), Volkswagen (-27%) all freefalling, as well as Fiat (-0.8%). Mercedes (+19.7%) and Hyundai (+21.4%) crack the Top 10 thanks to solid upticks.

Model-wise, the Suzuki Vitara (+21.3%) enjoys a 6th consecutive annual win and improves its share dramatically from 5.4% to 6.8%. The SX4 S-Cross (+12.2%) ensures Suzuki lodges a 1-2 for the third straight year. The Fiat 500 (+7%) advances one spot to land on the third step of the podium while the Dacia Duster (+18.3%) is up two to #4 and the Kia Ceed (+56.6%) is up 7 to #5. The Skoda Octavia (-23%) tumbles down four ranks to #7 while the Toyota Corolla (-9.3%) remains in 8th place. The Kia Sportage (+76.6%) and Suzuki Swift (+65.2%) show explosive growth and rank #10 (+15) and #11 (+12) respectively.

Previous year: Hungary 2020: Suzuki and Vitara #1, Toyota (+15.6%), Fiat (+22%) go against market down -18.9%

Two years ago: Hungary 2019: 6th straight double-digit gain (+15.6%), Suzuki scores first 1-2 since 2008 with Vitara and SX4 S-Cross
