Colombia Full Year 2021: Mazda CX-30 surges ahead, sales up 32.8%

New vehicle sales in Colombia shoot up 32.8% year-on-year in 2021 to 250,497 units. Renault (+20.5%) comfortably keeps the lead in the brands ranking even though Chevrolet (+2.5%) ranked #1 in December. The French carmaker sees its share fall from 21.1% to 20.5% and the American manufacturer from 17.9% to 13.8%. Mazda (+48.8%) soars but stays in third place above Nissan (+42.4%) like last year. Toyota (+53.4%) advance one spot, overtaking Kia (+41.9%) while Suzuki (+95.7%) posts the largest gain in the Top 10 and lands at #7, passing Volkswagen (+46%). Ford (+15%) is weak while Hyundai (+114.2%) shows explosive growth but stays at #10. Mitsubishi (+114.8%), DFSK (+75.7%), Audi (+67.9%) and Citroen (+59.2%) also shine below.
Over in the models ranking, the Mazda CX-30 (+99.2%) ends its first full year of sales in a spectacular pole position, Colombia being the only market in the world to crown this nameplate. Renault trusts five of the next six spots with the Duster (+38.2%) up one spot to #2, the Kwid (+9.3%) down two to #4, the Sandero Stepway (+28.3%) down one to #5, the Sandero (+24.6%) staying at #6 and the Logan (+8.5%) down two to #7. The Kia Picanto (+65.8%) climbs up five spots to #3 and the Chevrolet Joy (+622.5%), a first generation Onix, is up 35 ranks to #8 for its first full year of sales. Leader in 2020, the Chevrolet Onix (-34.6%) is down to #10 this year. The Toyota Corolla Cross is the most popular 2021 launch, landing directly at #20 and peaking at #3 in June.
