Belgium January 2022: Peugeot best-seller in market off -10%
Peugeot is the most popular carmaker in Belgium in January.
The Belgian new car market starts the year in a poor way with sales off -10% year-on-year to 33,947 units, keeping in mind January 2021 was already down -27.2% on the year prior. Peugeot (+8.5%) defies the negative context to land its first monthly win since October 2020, toppling freshly minted 2021 leader BMW (-25.6%) falling sharply this month. Mercedes (-18.4%) is up two spots on December to land on the third step of the podium ahead of a very vigorous Audi (+23.9%) while Volkswagen (-28.4%) struggles in 5th place. Dacia (+101.8%), Toyota (+49.3%) and Renault (+41.7%) score the largest gains in the Top 10. Below, notice MG (172.2%), Ssangyong (+147.9%), Porsche (+112.5%) and Mini (+14.2%) all posting solid upticks. Chinese newcomer Lynk & Co drops one spot on last month to #24 with 0.5% share.
