New car sales in Qatar gain 15.3% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2021 to 30,660 units. Toyota (-6.9%) goes against the market with a year-on-year drop but easily remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 31.1% share. It distances Nissan (+12%) also below the market growth rate holding 12.6% share. The next 7 best-selling manufacturers all beat the market with stellar gains, led by Land Rover (+161.3%), MG (+42.7%), Kia (+40.7%), GMC (+27.1%), Mitsubishi (+25.7%) and Hyundai (+19.1%). Lexus (-30.1%) on the other hand is in dire straits and the only Top 10 brand to lose ground year-on-year alongside Toyota. Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-14.5%) drops but remains ultra-dominant at 11.6% share vs. 5.6% for the #2, the Toyota HIlux (+10.8%), also losing share year-on-year. Excellent result for the Nissan Patrol (+36.9%) in third place love the Nissan Sunny (-19%) and Toyota Hiace (-10.6%) both in difficulty. The Land Rover Defender (+359%) is a blockbuster success in Qatar, ranking #6 overall, while the Toyota Yaris (+18.1%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10. The Chevrolet Tahoe (+324.7%), Kia Picanto (+210.7%), Nissan Urvan (+74.1%) and Honda City (+60.5%) also shine further down. The Kia Sonet (#46) is the best-selling recent launch just above the Mitsubishi Xpander (#47) and the Nissan Xterra (#61).
