Vietnam October 2021: Hyundai Accent reclaims top spot, Toyota Corolla Cross on podium in market down -10.4%
The Toyota Corolla Cross is up to #3 in Vietnam in October.
New vehicle sales in Vietnam drastically reduce their fall in October to -10.4% to 29,797 units, now up 3% year-to-date to 218,734. These figures climb to 41,972 and 300,763 once adding Hyundai and VinFast who report separately. Hyundai (+13%) goes against the negative market to lodge a splendid 21.1% share vs. 17.7% so far this year. It distances Thaco-Kia (+3.4%) also up at 17.2% in line with its YTD level and Toyota (-20%) in difficulty but sporting a superior share than YTD at 16.9% vs. 15%. Ford (+20.9%) excels in 4th place at 7.9% vs. 6.1% YTD while VinFast (+15.8%) is up year-on-year but down from 16.6% share last mont too just 7.9% in October. Isuzu (+5.9%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10 with Mazda (-50.1%), Suzuki (-38.7%), Mitsubishi (-26.4%) and Honda (-24.2%) all freefalling.
Model-wise, the Hyundai Accent (+50%) reclaims the top spot for the first time since lat April with a strong 8% share vs. 5.4% so far this year. The Ford Ranger (+63.2%) soars to 2nd place overall while the Toyota Corolla Cross (+55.2%) is up two spots on September to crack the Vietnamese podium for the first time at #3. Ending five consecutive months in pole position, the VinFast Fadil (+19.8%) falls to #4 for the month while the Kia Seltos (+29.2%) ensures the Top 5 models all advance with market-defying double-digit gains. Below, the Hyundai Tucson (+32.3%) and Santa Fe (+37.6%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10.
