Luxembourg October 2021: Porsche breaks into Top 10, market off -25.8%

Porsche is among the 10 best-selling carmakers in Luxembourg in October.

New car sales in Luxembourg continue to freefall at -25.8% year-on-year in October to 2,952 units, keeping in mind October 2020 was already down -18.6% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume tilts into negative at -0.2% to 37,963. Mercedes (-28.6%) reclaims the top spot in the brands ranking for the second time in the past three months and the third time this year (add January) and this despite falling faster than the market. It holds a superb 13% share vs. 10.1% so far this year. #1 last month, BMW (-15%) drops to #2 in October with 10% share vs. 10.4% year-to-date while Peugeot (+2.4%) manages a year-on-year uptick to climb up two spots on September to #3. Volkswagen (-53.9%) and Audi (-44.6%) are both in deep trouble and round out the Top 5, but despite this VW easily holds onto the year-to-date top spot. Hyundai (+17.6%) excels in 6th place with Fiat (-5.6%) containing its loss at #8. Porsche (+46.2%) delivers the best performance in a Top 10 in which it breaks for the first time since we started following Luxembourg monthly back in 2018. Lexus (+155.6%), Toyota (+72.3%), Kia (+56.1%), Smart (+36.8%), DS (+10.3%) and Nissan (+9.7%) also shine with splendid lifts further down.
