Taiwan September 2021: Toyota (+65.2%) monopolises podium in market up 10.4%

The Taiwanese new car market is up 10.4% year-on-year in September to 41.133 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume is now up 2.6% to 334.152. Brand leader Toyota (+65.2%) is in large part responsible for the market growth this month with a stellar surge leading it to 27.6% share vs. 27.3% so far this year. The rest of the Top 5 brands are all in negative: Ford drops -8.7%, Mercedes is hit -24.1%, Honda skids -9.5% and Nissan is down -6.9%. Below, Volkswagen (+52.1%) and Mazda (+17.9%) also outpace the market, with Lexus (+19.1%), BMW (+9.1%) and Mitsubishi (+7%) near the market growth level.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross celebrates one year in market with a dominant performance at 8.2% share, as Toyota monopolises the podium with the RAV4 (+14.8%) and Corolla Altis (+3.3%). The CMC Veryca (+12.4%) is up one spot on August to land at #4, ahead of the Honda CR-V (-17.8%) and Ford Focus (+17.3%). The Nissan Kicks (-16.4%) advances three ranks on last monty to #7, distancing a strong Toyota Yaris (+29.9%) and the Ford Kuga (-29.2%) in difficulty. The Mercedes GLC (-12.9%) rallies back up 15 spots on August to close out the Top 10 at #10. Notice also the Toyota Sienta (+39.4%) up to #13, the Tesla Model 3 (-9.5%) at #14, and the Mazda CX-5 (+122.4%) and Honda Fit (+97.7%) posting splendid gains.
