Slovakia July 2021: Skoda Scala up to #4 in market down -6.9%
The Skoda Scala is up to #4 in Slovakia in July.
The Slovak new car market skids down -6.9% year-on-year in July to 7.695 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 9.1% to 46.144. Brand leader Skoda (-15.7%) drops more than twice as fast as the market to fall to 19.5% share vs. 22.6% so far this year. In contrast the next four brands all go against the grain and post double-digit gains: Volkswagen is up 21.1% to 12% share vs. 9.7% YTD, Hyundai up 25.1% to 12% vs. 10.4%, Kia up 26.9% to 10.4% vs. 9.1% and Toyota up 12.6% to 7.4% like YTD. Peugeot (-37.1%) sinks but remains 6th ahead of Citroen (+11.2%) in great shape. Dacia (-25.8%), Mercedes (-28.7%) and Opel (-5.4%) round out the Top 10. Further down, Ford (+79.7%), Nissan (+67.2%), Mini (+66.7%) and Land Rover (+28%) impress.
Over in the models ranking, the podium is unchanged on July with the Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i30 and Skoda Octavia in the lead. The Skoda Scala is up 7 spots on last month to land at #4, distancing the Hyundai Tucson at #5 (+2) and the Skoda Kamiq at #6 (-1). The VW T-Cross and Kia Sportage both gain one rank to #7 and #8 respectively, while the Kia Ceed drops 5 to #9. The VW Tiguan soars 12 spots to #10 and the Dacia Duster up five to #11. Notice also the Peugeot 2008 up 15 to #13, the Citroen C3 up 12 to #14 and the Citroen C4 up a whopping 51 to #16.
