New Caledonia (France) June 2021: Dacia Duster leads, Soueast lands in market up 1.4%

The Soueast DX3 has landed in New Caledonia.

New Caledonia is a French archipelago located north-east of Australia. Its new car market is up 1.4% year-on-year in June to 821 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 12% to 3.825. Toyota (-14.6%) retains the brands pole position despite a sizeable loss, it is teased this month by Peugeot (+28.1%) at 10% share vs. 10.7% for the Japanese manufacturer. Citroen (-20%) is up two spots on May to #3, distancing Dacia (-33%) in difficulty and Ford (+1.7%). The best improvements are to be found at the lower end of the Top 10 with Mitsubishi (+85.7%), Kia (+66.7%) and Nissan (+50%) all posting splendid gains. Renault (-41.8%) implodes to #10. There are four Chinese brands in the Top 16: MG (+155.6%) at #13, Changan (new) at #14, FAW (+1600%) at #15 and Dongfeng (new) at #16. This month we welcome Soueast in the charts at #26 with 7 units of its DX3 SUV.

The Dacia Duster (-30.3%) reclaims the models top spot it holds year-to-date despite a significant fall, selling three more units than the Toyota Hilux (+43.3%). The Peugeot 208 (+94.1%) almost doubles its volume year-on-year to land at #3 both for the month and year-to-date. The Citroen Berlingo (+44.4%) is up 22 spots on last month to #4, eclipsing the Ford Ranger (+9.1%), Hyundai Creta (-16%) and Nissan Navara (+81.8%). Outstanding performances from the Kia K2700 (+111.1%) at #8, the Mitsubishi ASX (+850%) at #9 and the Subaru XV (+35.7%) at #10. Just outside the Top 10, the Dongfeng Joyear X5 is up from outside the May Top 30 directly to #11 and the FAW Bestune X40 is up 11 ranks to #12. Notice also the Changan/Kaicene F70 at #15 and the MG ZS at #16.
